Which stage of the works are we at now?
The works started in June 2018 and will be carried out in six phases over a five-year period.
Will the shops be open as usual?
Yes, absolutely! The shops will be open as normal throughout the reconstruction works.
What changes will you see in Phase2?
Good news – Sainsbury’s car parkwill be OPEN AGAN.
But the car park adjacent – Phase 2 – will now be CLOSED.
During this phase there will now be two separate car parks:
RED car park (in front of Sainsbury’s)
BLUE car park (at the opposite end by ASDA)
Please refer to the map below to work out where you’d like to park.
Where are the entrance points to access the car park and shops?
There will be FOUR entrances. These are marked on the map below.
Will we be able to access the shops as usual?
Yes! You just won’t be able to drive directly between the Red and Blue car parks.
All the shops will be easily accessible as usual, you will only have to choose which car park – Red or Blue– is closer to your destination.
Regardless of where you park you will still be able to access all the shops by foot.
Will this have an impact onthe overall number of car spaces in the car park?
No. We have created 500 additional temporary on-site car parking spaces in the lower ground car park.
These additional spaces will ensure there is always a minimum of 2,500 car spaces available for our shoppers.
How long will Phase 2 last?
Approximately 9 months.
Is the council paying for the reconstruction works?
Will the car park still be free once work is completed?
Yes – the carpark at Castlepoint will remain free for all our shoppers.
